Financial Aid & Scholarships

Come Work With Us As A Work-Study Student!

Work-study provides a funding source for students who need to work part-time to support their educational expenses and is an excellent opportunity to gain relevant work experience in your field of study. As a work-study student employee, you earn biweekly paychecks to assist with living and educational expenses throughout the semester. Funding comes from both federal and state aid sources.

CCD's Financial Aid Office awards work-study to all eligible students. Your first step in applying for work-study is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and complete your file with the Financial Aid Office.

Types of Jobs

On-Campus and Off-Campus Jobs

On-Campus - Jobs are available for most departments around campus. Employment opportunities are competitive and require a cover letter/resume and work-study award letter to be uploaded in our application portal.

Off-Campus - Limited positions are available through non-CCD organizations. These organizations are approved and authorized by the work-study manager. Off-Campus sites are established in April or May before the new academic year. There are several steps for an organization to become an off-campus site: complete an employer information form, sign an agreement, supervisor training, and site visit.

Summer Work-Study/Pay/Notes

Summer Work-Study

Summer work-study awards are made in late April. You must have submitted next year’s FAFSA, completed next year's financial aid file and be enrolled in at least six (6) credits for the summer and the following fall semester in order to be considered for summer work-study.

Getting Paid

Work-study pay is current Denver County minimum wage. Work-study student employees are paid every two weeks through direct deposit. Signed timesheets are required before payment is processed and a checking account is required.

Awards will vary from year to year based on government allocation and your own available unmet need (as determined by your FAFSA). You are not guaranteed to earn your entire award. You are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week, this includes spring break.

Important Notes

  • When hired for a work-study position, employment starts when Human Resources finalizes the new hire paperwork and an email is sent to the hiring supervisor. At this point, the background check has been cleared.
  • Students receiving work-study are required to adhere to CCD Employee Policies and the Work-Study Student Employee Handbook.
