It is with regret that I announce Community College of Denver’s 2020 Commencement Ceremony will not be held as scheduled on May 14th. This was a very difficult decision, but one that acknowledges the very unusual circumstances in our nation and world at this time. Our top concern is the health and safety of our campus community.
We share our graduates’ disappointment and do not want their achievements to go unrecognized. We value the opportunity to applaud the hard work and tenacity they have shown throughout their time at CCD. CCD is working to develop an alternate plan for this celebration. CCD’s Commencement website will be your best source of information as it becomes available at www.ccd.edu/Commencement.
This will not delay the awarding of degrees or certificates for those students who successfully complete their program requirements by the end of spring semester.
This decision includes the various additional celebrations held by other college and campus groups such as DREAMers, LBGT and TRIO.
CityHawks, we know this is disappointing; we are disappointed too! We are grateful for your understanding and patience as we establish next steps and determine the best plan for the health and safety of all concerned.
We encourage you to stay CityHawk strong as we move through this difficult and challenging time together.
Sincerely,
Everette J. Freeman, EdD
President
Community College of Denver
