Community College of Denver (CCD) has some great news to share! CCD has partnered with The Health Education and Resources Institute (THEARI) to launch an enhanced version of the Health Careers Pre-Apprenticeship Program. Subject matter experts from CCAHEC and CCD are working in tandem to deliver a training program designed to provide a jump-start to those considering a healthcare career.
This unique program provides individualized coaching, personality and learning style assessments, career pathway exploration, hands-on learning experiences, and a variety of certifications to enable you to be successful in a health-related career. Additionally, students can earn college credit through prior learning assessments and will receive an EKG Technician certification through the National Healthcareer Association. The best part is that CCD has received funding support from the Colorado Healthcare Experiential Pathways to Success grant, to provide this program at no cost to students*.
The Health Education and Resources Institute (THEARI) developed the Health Careers Pre-Apprenticeship Program (HCPA) in 2016. Employers in the healthcare field have expressed that there is a shortage of applicants who have “21st Century or essential skills”, encompassing simple but valuable attributes such as critical thinking skills, technology use, and interpersonal skills. The aim of the Health Careers Pre-Apprenticeship Program is not only to provide exposure to different careers in healthcare but to hone these 21st Century skills. We want participants to be the most qualified, competitive candidates while making sure they have the skills to be successful in any healthcare industry job they are interested in.
Join us for informational sessions about the program in July.
Registration of the next course is currently open. The course runs for 8-10 weeks. In-person lab sessions are scheduled on Monday afternoons from 3-6:00 p.m. The second class will be scheduled on Tuesday/Thursday, offered in a hybrid format with live synchronous online sessions.
A fall session is scheduled to begin on September 24th, with a September 7th deadline to register. Find out more or sign up today at ccahec.org/hcpaccd. You may also contact Mitch Fittro with any questions at Mitch@centralcoahec.org or Michelle Hoffer.
