The AI workshops will be free and include hands-on learning activities facilitated by three AI thought leaders. Each workshop will have a specific focus ranging from use cases of AI in the design industry, to the ethical considerations of using AI, to the way in which AI can be misused to help creators better understand the creative potential and possibilities when using these new AI tools.
We learn the most about a tool when it doesn’t work as intended. By testing the limits of generative AI and exploring unexpected applications, we can uncover new insights into its creative potential. This workshop invites participants to explore unconventional uses of generative AI, highlighting how unintended outcomes can inspire innovation, critical thinking, and artistic creativity. Through hands-on activities, participants will explore how generative AI responds to nonstandard inputs, consider the broader implications of repurposing these technologies, and engage in discussions about the, practical, ethical, and conceptual dimensions of AI.
In this interactive workshop, Beth Rudden will guide university students, faculty, and professionals through an in-depth exploration of artificial intelligence and its ethical implications. The session will provide an overview of ethical AI and explore how AI tools can be used responsibly in educational and design settings to augment human abilities, rather than replace them.
Participants will learn how AI is shaping the future of education—enhancing personalized learning, streamlining administrative tasks, and supporting faculty in more efficient ways—while maintaining ethical standards and being mindful of human biases and their impact on AI systems. In the design sector, the workshop will examine how AI can serve as a powerful tool for creativity and innovation, supporting designers in ways that foster new ideas and capabilities, all while upholding ethical values and preserving human expression.
This workshop will not only provide insights into the practical application of AI but will also encourage thoughtful discussions around the ethical challenges that come with the increasing adoption of AI technologies.
This workshop will leave participants inspired and ready to explore the future of design and AI with confidence. Through engaging, hands-on exercises and interactive discussions, attendees will gain valuable insights into how AI can enhance design practices. Real-world case studies will showcase practical applications, equipping participants with the knowledge to innovate and apply these learnings in their own.
