Fran Velasquez

Fran is a dedicated professional with a rich academic background and extensive experience in administrative roles. She embarked on her academic journey, earning a Business Administrative Assistant certificate in 2018 and an Associate of General Studies degree from Pikes Peak State College (PPSC) in May 2021. 

During her time at PPSC, Fran served as the Assistant to the President, showcasing her commitment and capabilities in providing invaluable administrative support. Her passion for fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion is evident in her roles as Vice President for the PPSC Multicultural Student Union and coordinator for the PPSC Real Talk Teatime Women Forum. Fran's dedication earned her the prestigious Inclusive Excellence Champion Award in 2021. 

Fran's commitment to education and advocacy extends beyond her administrative roles. She is a recipient of the Colorado Opportunity Scholarship Initiative (COSI) Award and the Executive Women International (EWI) Women in Action Completion Scholarship. She even testified before a Colorado Senate Committee in January 2020, contributing to discussions around amending COSI.  

Since July 1997, Fran has continually sought personal and professional growth in her extensive career with the State of Colorado. Returning to college in 2017, she pursued a certificate that ultimately led to her Administrative Assistant III position for the Office of the President. In 2020, Fran furthered her education, earning an Associate of General Studies to secure her promotion to Assistant to the President.  

Fran brings a wealth of experience to her role at CCD, having served the College President and the Executive Council at PPSC, collaborating with CCCS and other colleges. Her proficiency in planning large events and her special charisma in organizing public and student events highlight her versatility and effectiveness in a leadership capacity. 

Beyond her professional pursuits, Fran finds joy in her family, with two sons and two granddaughters. She is also an avid lover of crafting and the great outdoors of Colorado.
