Licensed Legal Paraprofessional
These preparation courses are tailored to individuals who already meet the educational prerequisites for becoming an LLP but seek to complete the mandatory class or enhance their subject matter expertise. This curriculum was built directly from the Supreme Court Learning Outcomes for LLPs. No credentials or certificates are offered upon course completion.
Payment is required for registration to be complete and to gain access to the course, payment can be made online. You will not have access to the course until the date the class starts.
Becoming a licensed legal paraprofessional requires not only education but also specific practical experience hours. The Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association (RMPA) has established an LLP Committee to assist you in developing a personalized plan to meet the eligibility requirements for licensure. This committee can guide you through the process, ensuring you gain the practical experience needed to become a licensed legal paraprofessional.
At CCD, we are committed to providing a holistic approach to legal education, whether you are starting your journey or advancing your career in the field of legal services.
Paralegal Program
For those who do not currently meet the minimum educational requirements for the LLP program, CCD's Paralegal Program offers comprehensive solutions. We provide a Paralegal certificate program and an Associate degree in Paralegal Studies. These programs are designed to equip you with the fundamental knowledge and skills required to excel in the legal field.
Welcome to our LLP Classes! We are excited to assist you on your journey toward licensure in this entirely new and challenging profession. However, before we begin, it is important for us to provide you with some important information and set realistic expectations. These classes are not Exam Prep Classes.
- Nature of the Profession: Please be aware that this profession is relatively new, and based on the experience in other states, only approximately 25% of initial applicants qualified for licensure on their first attempt. This information is shared not to discourage you but to emphasize the importance of dedication, preparation, and perserverance in this process.
- Varied Knowledge and Experience: Every applicant comes to this class with different levels of knowledge and experience. It is essential to understand that not everyone will have the same background, and success in the exam is not guaranteed for any individual. The class is designed to assist you in addressing gaps in your understanding and skillset.
- No Guarantee of Licensure: No applicant should feel guaranteed or entitled to licensure simply by enrolling in this class. The licensure process is rigorouse, and success is contingent upon individual effort, commitment, and the ability to grasp the core competencies required by the Colorao Supreme Court.
- Core Competencies Framework: Our courses are built upon the 19-page Core Competencies approved by the Colorado Supreme Court. These competencies outline a comprehensive list of tasks and legal concepts that a Licensed Legal Professional (LLP) must master to obtain licensure. Please be prepared to engage deeply with the material and actively participate in your learning process.
- Specialization in Advanced Family Law: The Family Law class, in particular, is designed as an Advanced Family Law course aligned with the Core Competencies. It is specifically targeted not to duplicate the existing family law course in the paralegal studies certificate and associate degree programs. Expect a focused and comprehensive exploration of Family Law concepts relevant to the licensure exam.
In conclusion, we are here to support you, but success requires your commitment, effort, and active participation. Your journey toward licensure may pose challenges, but with dedication and the resources provided in this class, you can enhance your chances of success.
Best of luck in your educational and professional endeavors!
Sincerely,
The Community College of Denver
