Underage Enrollment

New Students

Students under the age of 17 years old who wish to waive the Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System State Board Policy must complete the following steps:

Being issued a student ID number does not guarantee underage enrollment acceptance.

  • Complete this online orientation by logging into CCD Connect student portal.
  • Sign in with your CCD Student ID number and password. *Your temporary password the first time logging into CCD Connect will be StudentMMDDYYYY (the word student, followed by your date of birth).
  • Once signed in, click the SOAR link on the right side of your dashboard.

Click here to complete and submit the Waiver of Admissions Requirements online form.

The following required materials should be submitted with the Waiver packet:

  • Signed copy of our Student Payment Agreement;
  • PDF file including all high school transcripts, college transcripts, and ACT, SAT, and Accuplacer test scores;
  • PDF file of a teacher or community member's recommendation letter (multiple letters ok in one file); and
  • PDF or image file of a valid ID for the parent or official guardian.
  • Optional - a PDF file of a portfolio of academic accomplishments (awards, accolades, etc.)

Waiver Packets will be evaluated for completion and forwarded to the Associate Dean of Student Success for review.

All applications for a waiver must be submitted for review at least two weeks before the first day of the semester. Late Waiver applications cannot be guaranteed for review before the semester start date.

  • The Associate Dean of Student Success will review the completed Waiver of Admissions Requirements and all uploaded documents within 5-7 day.
  • After all documentation has been reviewed, the student will receive a phone call to schedule a meeting with the Associate Dean of Student Success.
  • The student attends this meeting with a parent/guardian to discuss the application, decide whether any additional items are needed, and to answer any questions the student or parent/guardian may have.
  • You may be asked to take additional placement tests or to send official transcripts directly from an institution depending on your submitted documentation and prerequisites for desired courses.
  • Placement testing is offered in person by appointment at the CCD Auraria Campus, Confluence Building, 800 Curtis St, Denver, CO 80204. Sign up on our Testing Center webpage.
  • A photo ID (Driver’s license, state ID, or student ID accepted) is required to test—no exceptions.
  • Students may use another official testing center if desired

After reaching a final decision, the student will be contacted by phone or email of acceptance or denial.

Accepted students work with an Academic Advisor to ensure the program of study and courses meet the student’s needs and complete registration.

  • Pay your tuition and fees on campus or through your CCD Connect student portal. Students are responsible for all tuition and fees. View CCD Tuition Rates.
  • Know the drop and withdraw deadlines.
  • Frequently check your student email on the CCD Connect student portal.
  • Explore your Desire2Learn online portal that is used with all CCD Classes. View tutorials or get help with D2L at the Excel Zone tutoring center.
  • Use your Navigate app to access resources and valuable information to stay on track.
  • Purchase your textbooks
  • Students with accommodation needs: Please note that some accommodations in the K-12 system (under IDEA) may be different than accommodations in adult services, including higher education. For example, in K-12 grades, multiple involved individuals are brought together to discuss the student’s educational plan and accommodations. However, at the college level, under ADA requirements, the student determines who they would like to have participate with them in discussions related to disability and accommodation concerns. Visit CCD’s Accessibility Center for more information.

Returning Students

Students under the age of 17 years old who wish to waive the Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System State Board Policy must complete the following steps:

Use Navigate or call 303-556-2481 to schedule an advising appointment with an Academic Advisor to check in and select courses for enrollment.

Together with your Advisor, email your written request to register to the Associate Dean of Student Success.

Be sure to:

  • Submit your request through your college-issued email account.
  • Include your CCD student ID number.
  • Mention that you are a returning Underage Student.
  • Include a new Payment Agreement (parent signature required)

Disclaimer: Participation in enrollment to CCD begins the student’s college experience and a permanent college transcript. In contrast to the AP program (where college credit is granted upon successful completion of a national examination, and no record is kept on the student’s college transcript if the exam is not passed), registration for enrollment constitutes a commitment to enter the final course grade on the student’s Permanent college record, regardless of the results. Furthermore, credit is earned by performance and participation throughout the course rather than by an exit examination alone.

Appeals of Denied Waivers: Students may appeal a denial by emailing the Dean of Enrollment Administration and Student Success requesting a meeting with the student and parent/legal guardian.
