Clery Act Reporters

Am I a Clery Act Reporter?

Certain campus officials have a duty to report criminal misconduct for federal statistical reporting purposes under The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. All personally identifiable information is kept confidential, but statistical information must be passed along to campus law enforcement regarding the type of incident and its general location (on or off-campus, in the surrounding area, but no addresses are given). This report helps to provide the community with a clear picture of the extent and nature of campus crime, to ensure greater community safety. The annual report is published on the AHEC website: CCD Annual Clery Report. You can also find a copy of the report in CCD's document library.

To report a crime, Clery Reporters should contact the Auraria Police Department at 303.556.5000. Mandated federal Clery reporters include:

  • student affairs/student conduct officers,
  • campus law enforcement,
  • student activities staff,
  • human resources staff,
  • advisors to student organizations, and
  • any other official with significant responsibility for student and campus activities.

Who is not a mandated federal Clery reporter?

  • Faculty without responsibility for student or campus activities outside of the classroom
  • Support staff (clerical, maintenance, food service workers)

Employees who are not federal Clery reporters are obligated to report sex offenses and hate crimes to the Title IX/EO Coordinator.

If you have questions or need assistance determining whether you are a mandatory reporter, contact:
