Start your future as an engineer at Community College of Denver. You’ll take classes that will prepare you to become a civil, electrical, or mechanical engineer such as computer-aided drafting (CAD) and robotics design. You can select one of these plans to transfer to an Engineering program on the Auraria campus, or work with your Academic Advisor to create a customized plan for classes for any engineering major at any school you like.

A seamless transition
Continue on to a 4-Year School

Within your first semester, you’ll take classes that will prepare you to become a civil, electrical, or mechanical engineer, such as Robotics Design or Introduction to Design and Engineering Applications. We have closely aligned CCD’s coursework within each degree option to help you take time to learn about each one before making final degree and career decisions.

While all our engineering program options include calculus, the options that involve transfer to an institution on the Auraria Campus start with college algebra, allowing for a seamless transition from high school math.

With the Auraria Engineering Pathway, you can earn an Associate of Science degree at CCD and then have guaranteed acceptance into engineering programs at either the University of Colorado Denver or the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Wherever you choose to go, be it Colorado School of Mines or University of Colorado Boulder or Colorado State University, by starting at CCD, you’ll benefit from our lower tuition rates, smaller class sizes, and robust tutoring and support programs.

Engineering Pathways

Civil engineering centers around the development of infrastructure such as buildings, railways, roads, bridges, and general construction project management. Civil Engineers also play an important role in rebuilding projects in the event of a natural disaster. This is a very broad engineering degree.

Electrical engineering involves the study of energy in various forms, from the traditional electrical grid to natural sources such as wind, hydroelectric, and solar energy. Electrical Engineers design components for electronic equipment, communications
systems, power grids, automobiles, and more.

Mechanical engineering involves the design of mechanical systems. These systems assist industries such as manufacturing, aeronautics, nanotechnology, nuclear power production, and heating & cooling. A primary focus is on thermodynamics, materials science, and kinematics.

More Information About the Program

Academic support is provided through CCD's Excel Zone, which helps students succeed by offering a variety of learning opportunities. We are located on campus on the 4th floor of the Confluence building.

CCD Online offers fully online certificates and degrees, and individual online courses to help match your busy schedule. Most of the courses in this program have an online option available.

Your first step is to see if online learning is right for you. Online and hybrid environments offer much more flexibility but require more self-direction and self-discipline. Certain work habits, learning styles and skills contribute to a successful online or hybrid learning experience.
