The Healthcare Informatics Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) combines concepts from Healthcare Administration, Information Technology (IT), Data Science, Quality Management, and Organizational Leadership. 

The Healthcare Informatics Bachelor of Applied Science program prepares students for a dynamic career within the Healthcare Industry with experience in the application of Healthcare Informatics with real-world assignments, case studies, and projects. 

  • Evaluate aspects of health, health information systems, and healthcare organizations by applying various data techniques and methodologies.
  • Recommend solutions to improve healthcare quality, efficiency, patient care, and population health problems.
  • Interpret major health policy, risk, and legal issues relevant to health informatics to articulate needed changes, mitigation strategies, and best practices.
  • Manage innovation and change in healthcare administration, healthcare information, and medical research contexts.
  • Apply leadership, effective communication, data, and ethics in inter-professional collaboration to drive the improvement of healthcare.

The Healthcare Informatics Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree is designed as a stackable credential that builds on previously earned associate degrees and certificates. New and current students working toward an associate degree or certificate are welcome to apply in interested.

The program is primarily delivered online but may include other methods, including traditional and hybrid, for those classes outside the HCI discipline.

More Information About the Program

Academic support is provided through CCD's Excel Zone, which helps students succeed by offering a variety of learning opportunities. We are located on campus on the 4th floor of the Confluence building.

CCD Online offers fully online certificates and degrees, and individual online courses to help match your busy schedule. The program is primarily delivered online, but it may include other delivery methods including traditional and hybrid for those classes outside of the HCI discipline.

Your first step is to see if online learning is right for you. Online and hybrid environments offer much more flexibility but require more self-direction and self-discipline. Certain work habits, learning styles and skills contribute to a successful online or hybrid learning experience.

The healthcare sector is also anticipated to expand, with a projected growth rate of 13% between 2021 and 2031, reflecting the increasing demand of healthcare technology integration, EMRs, and the expansion of big data and health insurance coverage.
