TRIO SSS provides comprehensive academic, financial and personal guidance
TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) provides comprehensive academic, financial and personal guidance within an active community of students and staff.
All TRIO SSS participants are overcoming obstacles to higher education — such as limited income, being the first generation to go to college, or disability — en route to graduation and transfer.
Our specialists and peer mentors will challenge and support you every step of your journey while at CCD and during your transfer to a four-year college or university.

- U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident,
- Overcoming an obstacle to higher education: limited income, or first-generation to college, or disability,
- Plan to transfer to a four-year college or university,
- Be enrolled at CCD with at least two semesters remaining.

Students can fulfill their two TRIO activities a semester requirement by reviewing two workshops and emailing their TRIO SSS Advisor the Reflection Form!

Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19 | 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Summer Bridge (SB), held prior to the start of the fall semester, where recent high school graduates and returning students can become (re)acquainted with the Community College of Denver (CCD) and higher education.
During this program, participants will have the chance to meet, work with, and learn about the different departments at CCD crucial to a student’s experience and successful continuation. SB 2022 is online and engages different platforms to get you the information and resources you need to support academic success!
Workshop topics will include:
- Financial Aid – Ways to Pay for School
- SPARC - (lending library, student clubs, counseling, food pantry, etc.)
- CCD/ TRIO SSS Advising – Connecting with an Advisor, academic planning and guidance.
- Study Skills, Scholarships, Essay Writing, FAFSA application assistance, Tutoring and MORE!
- Career guidance, resume and cover letter, and so MUCH more

Minimum Requirements
Planning to graduate with an Associate degree and transfer to a four-year university, plus one of the following:
- U.S Citizen OR permanent Resident
- First Generation to college (neither of your parents have a four-year college degree in the U.S.)
- Low-income, OR an Accessibility Center Participant. You only need to meet ONE of these categories to be considered for our program
TRIO Services
Work with our success specialists and peer mentors to meet your individual goals.
- Identify the degree and transfer requirements in order to create an academic plan.
- Understand and navigate the academic culture and policies.
- Resolve any challenges or obstacles impacting successful course completion.
- Participate in personalized tutoring and join peer-to-peer study groups.
- Develop academic skills for studying, note-taking, time management and more.
- Prepare for challenging courses with week-long "boot camps" in subjects such as anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, and physics.
- Complete financial aid application requirements and appeal statements.
- Locate and apply for institutional and private scholarships.
- Utilize financial literacy to create a budget and minimize student loan debt.
- Tour undergraduate and graduate institutions throughout the Rocky Mountain region.
- Complete admissions and financial aid application requirements.
- Connect with support programs such as TRIO SSS at four-year institutions.
- Enhance your resume and interview skills.
- Access career exploration resources and basic assessments.
- Develop your leadership style through service-learning projects and leadership conferences.
- Meet successful alumni of the CCD TRIO SSS program.
- Discuss your victories and challenges with a trusted peer.
- Receive first-hand advice from someone who has been there.
- Attend museums, theater and musical performances through a partnership with ArtReach.
- Get together with other TRIO SSS students at various social events.
- Connect with campus partners such as the Accessibility Center and Academic Advising & Student Success Center.
- Find additional support through the Excel Zone.
- Access community resources for healthcare, childcare, housing, food, and employment assistance
