Academic Advising & Student Success Center

Academic Advisors

Introduction to Our Pathways Model

Our programs are organized into eight advising pathways, each with its own advising specialist. Advising is based around a one-student, one-advisor model. Your advisor serves as a single point of contact for your advising questions, general concerns, campus resources, and success support. New and transfer students are assigned an advisor based on their declared program or major within two weeks after each semester begins.

Before Seeing an Advisor

Before seeing an academic advisor:

Ready to Schedule Your Appointment?

  • If you are a new student to CCD who has recently completed SOAR (Student Orientation and Resources) and all necessary pre-enrollment steps, you are ready to sign up for a First Semester Advising session with your advisor. This is a group session which will provide you with essential pathway advising. You only need to do this once.
  • Current or re-admitted students and those who have completed First Semester Advising, are invited to schedule a General Advising meeting. This is a 45-minute comprehensive individual advising session to discuss your unique needs and goals, and to create your academic plan for all semesters.

    How to Schedule:
Schedule an in person or virtual appointment through Navigate
Stop by the Academic Advising Front Desk
Note that in January and August, few appointments are available. During this time, we offer expanded drop-in advising without an appointment. Prepare for 10-60 minute wait times.

Drop In for Quick Help During Your Advisor’s Office Hours

  • First come, first served. 15 minutes maximum per student, maximum 4 students per hour.
  • Please meet with your assigned advisor.
  • Confirm available dates and times in Navigate: Click on Appointments, then Schedule an Appointment, then View Drop-In Times.
  • In Person: Use the Kiosk at the Academic Advising Front Desk to check in then proceed to the waiting area.
  • Phone: If you are not on campus, call your academic advisor directly at the start of the office hour to request a position in the queue.
