The Boundless Opportunity Scholarship (BOS) is designed to benefit motivated, non-traditional students who recognize the power of education to create a better life for themselves and their families.

CCD student Lena Lund is an English Literature major in pursuit of an associate of arts degree. She serves on the student government association and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK). She loves the campus and is grateful to be a recipient of the Boundless Opportunity Scholarship.

“I love the diversity of the campus and have met some pretty awesome people at CCD,” said Lund. “I have had extremely good luck and had great professors. Having this scholarship really helps with my finances so I can stay in school without having to take out loans.”

“Boundless Opportunity Scholarships benefit non-traditional students who desire to create a better life by investing in their education,” said Hanna Skandera, president and CEO of the Daniels Fund. “As our founder, Bill Daniels once said, ‘America remains the greatest nation on Earth, where boundless opportunities still exist for each and every one of us’.”

BOS scholarships are need-based and are available to specific student populations including adult learners entering or returning to college, GED recipients, veterans entering or returning to college and former juvenile justice youth.

Before she was a Boundless Opportunity Scholar, Lund worked hard to complete her GED after she struggled to earn a diploma through an online high school program. “I tried going back to school but aged out of the system,” she said. “I was tired of working jobs that I didn’t care about and didn’t like  the direction  my life was headed, so I decided to go back to college.”

She found CCD in 2016 and started building a path toward her desired future career.  “After graduation, I plan to transfer to a 4-year university to study English or journalism,” she said. “My dream is to become an author and earn my living writing.”
